Some VIP Funds for Fall

Our local church budget needs are around $20,000 per month! This helps to support most of what you see happen on Sabbath and throughout the week at Central. (Reaching our goal also keeps Pastor Sager's blood pressure down!)

A second VIP fund we are asking help with is our Worthy Student Fund. This helps our next generation have access to Adventist Education at HMA and Ka Lama Iki. Remember to be faithful in returning God's tithe (tenth) to Him. See if He will pour out an abundant blessing on you and your house.

Tuesday Dinner is Served

Community Services hands out some extra aloha in their boxed dinners

Tired of cooking every night? Looking for some relief from all the daily chores? Honolulu Central just might have the answer. Every Tuesday evening Sina Lene and her community services team cook up something special. As if that wasn't enough they then box it up and hand it out to individuals and families who need a break from the endless repeat of one of their mundane tasks. Oh, and there are no messy dishes when you are finished! To schedule you and your family, call 679-2050.

Movie Night

The latest installment of Christian Movie Night took place on the evening of August 8. A packed parking area held an enthusiastic crowd that enjoyed a spaghetti dinner and the film, "I Still Believe", the real life story of singer Jeremy Camp. His story is a roller coaster of love, tragedy and the triumph of faith.

The next movie night is scheduled for December 6.

SDA Schools Open for Learning

HMA Ka Lama Iki Principal, Mrs. Sarah Traczyk joined us on Sabbath, August 8 and informed the church that our elementary school was back in session. Every precaution is being taken to keep students and teachers safe amidst the growing number of COVID cases on Oahu. Social distancing, masks, face shields and a number of other safety measures have been implemented at the school.

"The most important thing to the teachers and staff is getting the kids back in the classroom, checking on their well-being and mental health," said Mrs. Traczyk. Being away from friends for such a long time can be trying for a young person, so opening schools safely has been a top priority for the Hawaii Conference Education Department.

If you are interested in more information about the school you can visit their website (www.kalamaiki.org) or call 949-2033.

Community Outreach in the Age of COVID-19

With so many new rules, regulations and restrictions it can be difficult knowing how to fill 'need gaps' in our community. The Honolulu Central Church is working in many ways to fill those needs.

The first is through our community services ministry. We collect clothing, food and other items that are distributed for free to families who need a helping hand.

You can be directly involved by joining our food donation drive. Simply bring a non-perishable food item or paper good and drop it off by the box in the back of the sanctuary. Yet another method of helping fill in gap is by providing prepared, boxed dinners available for pick-up every Tuesday from 4-6pm.

Sermon Series on Elisha

Pastor Sager's sermon series on Elisha continues throughout the month of August. Consider these words regarding the ministry of Elisha: "The work of Elisha as a prophet was in some respects very different from that of Elijah. To Elijah had been committed messages of condemnation and judgment; his was the voice of fearless reproof, calling king and people to turn from their evil ways. Elisha's was a more peaceful mission; his it was to build up and strengthen the work that Elijah had begun; to teach the people the way of the Lord. Inspiration pictures him as coming into personal touch with the people, surrounded by the sons of the prophets, bringing by his miracles and his ministry healing and rejoicing." PK 235
